Gel Nail Hack

I don't know about you, but I really like love to paint my nails.  Right now I've gone about 2 1/2 weeks without any nail polish on my fingernails and it's driving me crazy.

"Just paint your nails, Paige," I bet is what all of you are saying right now.  Well ... it hasn't been that easy around my house these days!  When you have a VERY active 1-yr old, and a dog who has to pee all the time, and a house that needs cleaning, the day just gets away from me and before I know it I'm climbing into bed ready to pass out.

I'm always looking for new nail polish colors, and new ways to painting my nails.  I really enjoy getting a shellac done, but it has to be spar-ing-ly because it is so expensive!

*Introduce the best thing ever*

Today I want to tell you about my FAVORITE technique that I found and now use ALL. THE. TIME.  It's not as good as the true shellac, but I'd say it's a very close second.  I'm pretty hard on my nails, and it usually lasts me about a week before any chipping occurs.

Items that you need:

- Clear base coat : I like to use Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps (purchased at Target)
- Gel Coat : American Classics Gelous (purchased at Sally Beauty)
- Nail Polish : You can use any brand, and color! (purchased anywhere)
- Top Coat : Seche Vita is a great brand (purchased at Sally Beauty)

Apply as follows:

Hard as Wraps / Base coat
Gel coat
Nail polish
Gel coat
Nail polish
Seche Vita / Top coat

Make sure each layer is dry before adding the next one!  I usually do this at night while my husband and I are watching football, or one of our shows.  This way I have loads of undisturbed time!

Good luck, and I'm gonna go get my gel on!  My nails are screaming for it!

P.S. So far I haven't figured out if one particular brand of polish stays better with this hack or not.  That's my next task.  But the ones that I have used so far are - Essie, Sinful Colors, and Julep.

**I got this hack from Pinterest, and the blog Mint Arrow.  I'm just helping share the goodness of this awesome technique!**
