the 4th of july

The 4th of July is one of my all time favorite holidays.  I love decorating my house in red, white, and blue.  I love celebrating with all the festivities of the day.  I love watching the fireworks at night.  But most of all I love being able to remember why we honor this special day.

This year was a pretty busy one for our household!  My parents and sisters were in town for a cousin's wedding, so we were able to spend it with them as well as one of my Dad's brother's and his family, and my Dad's parents.

The morning started off with our annual Young Women's 4th of July breakfast.  I was up at about 5 am getting potatoes ready with some of the other leaders, and then we were on to setting the rest of the stuff up, and making pancakes.  We had lots of fun though, and made some good breakfast!

I then joined Chris and my family at the Provo 4th of July Parade.  I haven't been to this in years, and my family had never seen it, so it was fun to go.  We had awesome parade weather too!  Perfect for sitting on the side of the street in the sun.

Evan watching the parade.  He was a little scared of all the policeman on their motorcycles, but he eventually warmed up to it all while sitting in Chris' lap.  Cutest. Thing. Ever.

Go Cougars!!  It was fun to see Cosmo do all his tricks.

We got Big Red the chicken out for my cousins to see.  They had fun petting her.  Sadie even got in on the action too!  She was nice though :)

Chris' famous "the BOX" firework concoction that was pretty awesome, but may have totally caught on fire...in the middle of the street...haha.

Overall we had a great 4th of July.  Lots of relaxing and eating great food with family!  I was sad to see it end, but I'm excited to know that next year we will have a little baby boy to celebrate it with.
